How is the division of child medical expenses determined in Kansas domestic relations cases?

The Kansas child support guidelines provide that in addition to any child support amount ordered to be paid, the parties are to share any uninsured medical expenses (including deductibles) on a proportional basis.  A substantial and ongoing change in circumstances may be sufficient to make the terms of the initial decree unreasonable. Examples include:

(1) the child has grown older,
(2) the child’s needs have changed, or
(2) one parent moving out of state or getting married.

Every situation needs to be evaluated on its own facts to decide if there is such a change in circumstances and that a change in the existing custody or visitation order is warranted.
