What are “court costs”?

“Court costs” are the fees required paid by the courts in order to file a court action.

As of July 1, 2003, a filing fee of $111.00 must be paid in order to file an initial action. A filing fee of $26 is required for any request for a change of custody, residency, parenting time, visitation or child support filed after an initial decree is entered. There is no fee to register a foreign child custody, residency or parenting time order in the state or a child support order. Other “court costs” may include service fees, deposition expenses and other similar expenses
